Interview with Abduljabbar
“I hope that I will register at the GMC shortly and return to work in my field in order to help patients and contribute to society.”
Abduljabbar is a General Surgeon from Syria, who came to the UK in 2013 and passed their OET with us in 2020.
What was your career in Medicine?
I am a medical Doctor specialised in General Surgery. I have twelve-year-work experience as a General Practitioner and a General Surgeon.
What are you hoping to do in the NHS?
Since I left Syria, I have been off work as a Doctor due to language barriers. I have worked hard to improve my English. Recently, I passed the OET I now am preparing for PLAB tests. I hope that I will register at the GMC shortly and return to work in my field in order to help patients and contribute to society.
How did you find out about TPP?
I heard about TPP from my friend who is also a Doctor and who is receiving support from TPP.
What has your experience been like?
I started to receive support from TPP in October 2020. I have enjoyed my experience with TPP. I was able to choose the date and time of my sessions and the material, which was provided in the sessions, was of good quality and relevant to the OET.
How helpful were the sessions in passing the OET?
The sessions of my study with TPP were very helpful for me in passing the OET. My two teachers (Jonny and Rohan) were both young, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I liked their way of teaching as I felt comfortable to ask questions, for which they gave me clear answers and explanations.
What has been the most useful thing that TPP has done?
The sessions which TPP offered to me were very helpful especially in reading and writing subtests. In the reading subtest, the teachers worked on my weakness and taught me some strategies which improved my skimming and scanning skills particularly in Part A. They also taught me how to understand the texts of part C and find the correct answers. In the writing subtest, they worked on my weakness by explaining to me how to select relevant information form the notes of the writing task and organise this information in a coherent layout.
Would you recommend TPP to friends looking to study for the OET?
From my experience, I think TPP is the best resource of teaching OET. OET is a professional language test and taking into account their medical background, I think teachers in TPP are the correct people to teach OET. Therefore, I would definitely recommend TPP to all my friends who need to study for the OET.
