Hi! My name is Daniel and I am a doctor from Colombia. I passed OET in October 2020, PLAB 1 in February 2021 and PLAB 2 in April 2021. The journey through GMC registration as an IMG is long, and requires significant commitment, with long hours of study and practice, especially if you are not a native english speaker and your medical school was not taught in english. This is why I am so grateful for all the guidance I received from The Phoenix Project and its collaborators.

Starting from my OET preparation, particularly the speaking subtest, Tabi took the time to practice sample role-plays with me on a regular basis, guiding me through the assessment criteria and providing extremely important feedback on my performance. Once I passed PLAB 1, there were no seats for PLAB 2 for the remainder of 2021, and my only possibility was booking a canceled seat. To my surprise, I secured a canceled seat for PLAB 2, six days before the actual exam. Despite the short notice, Tabi and Rohan were extremely supportive and took time from their busy schedules to help me with my preparation. The sessions were highly interactive and their feedback was significant, effectively reflecting what was expected from an FY2-level doctor in the UK.

Tabi and Rohan even went the extra mile, providing clinical scenarios I was not previously familiar with and showed me ways to effectively approach those. I will be forever grateful with The Phoenix Project and would highly recommend it to any IMG considering medical practice in the UK. Additionally, I have expressed my interest to collaborate with them in the future as a way to give back to this great organisation.
